The Alchemy of grinding my own pigments and making my own painting mediums, as well as trying to wrap my mind around the Medieval and Renaissance techniques of the Old Masters has always seemed akin to turning lead into gold or some forgotten science. As with lead, many of the painter's materials are very hazardous and must be handled with the utmost care; every precaution should be observed.
